Some people have a disapproving, quickly judging nature hovering over them. They create these supposed ‘normal’ attitudes and responses which everyone else is expected to conform to.
Of course, there will be reasons for them doing this, but it really is straining the release of our emotions. It is true that some people are wary, scared, of really feeling what powerful words, music, pictures, performances could create for them; they push them away, or laugh nervously at them.
Yet the Arts do have the inescapable ability to access us, the vulnerable places within us which we hide, at times. Those who have the courage to not only let themselves experience, but then outwardly acknowledge the effect of something really quite potent, live. Their capacity for feeling is filled. Don’t belittle them with your supposedly assured demeanour, don’t hurl sneering scepticism at them.
Wriggling embarrassment and uncertainty is uncomfortable, especially when facing something other people have already decided to tease. It is a choice, though, it is your choice how you independently react to that something.
In the end, the beautiful and intense elements of any Art give us inspiration to live these lives of ours. If you decide to deem this ‘weird’ or ‘a bit of a waste of time’ however, one could be curious as to how you plan to go along your route, and many will find it even somewhat sad, that that is the conclusion you have come to.
